My basic design has stayed the same. However I have made a few changes. If you look at my previous design for my icon, the font is has a very sharp edge, where as I feel this suits font reads better and looks more professional. I have also erased the white circle in the centre of the icon. I did this as I felt that adding one more colour into the mix was too much and it looks a lot nicer just with the black and beige/brown. By getting rid of the white I could add an effect to the icon, I used 'Linear Burn' this made the icon merge into the background layer creating a design that works as a whole and it's not obvious that it layers.

Font texture tests
Here are some tests I did for the wording I am going to use in my final designs. I like how the Media, Film and Music looks as it's similar to the mark that a stamp would leave, it is not an obvious effect, but it would make the overall piece visually interesting.

Background of final piece...
The theme of my blog inspired the background that I intend to use for my final piece. I like the two tone effect, which hopefully will give the piece texture.

My icon for the design?!
After many things that I have seen I wanted to create something similar in terms of bended lines. When I was messing around with some of the stamps on illustrator I found a stamp the does twisted lines and if you hold the mouse down for long enough it created this. I like how simple yet class it looks. I'm not sure about the black and white circles so I might try and do something with that along with the text as I think the lines of the text are too strong and I would like something softer.

Graphic Design: The New Basics
I have just started to look at Ellen Lupton's book and I have found a few things that are similar to other designs that I have been inspired by. Along with some ideas for the other bits of text on my design. Here are the pictures.
These are Bezier lines, this looks very similar to the work of Franco Grignani. I would like try try this out, but it looks very complicated as it uses code, so I would like to try and see if there is a different way to do it.
I like the idea of having text with a texture such as embossing, would really make my piece stand out rather than just a normal font. I saw these images in this book and thought it would be brilliant to try it out. I like particularly like the middle section, where the letters have a painted effect.

Inspiration...
I was really inspired by the black and white images in the last post, so I wanted to find more designers that have created images like those ones. I found a website called Baubau Haus. This website stocks "Design, illustration, photography, fashion and of all else art-related".
When I started looking through the black and white collection. I found this image which I love, the use of bent lines creates movement within the piece. The use of black and white with the small amount of orange used is aesthetically pleasing. The creator of this piece is Franco Grignani. When doing a further search for his work on Google I found these images...
Once again I like how these designs also seem 3D, I would love to try this out and see if I can create it for my final piece.

Inspiration
I have just been searching the internet for other ideas that I could try out or that could inspire me for my final piece.I found a graphic designer's tumblr called Thomas Kronbichler...here is the link to his tumblr blog.
Although not all of his creations inspired me, there are some that I really liked such as the following images.

I like how they don't seem like 2D images as they feel as though they have some texture to them. I also like how they are black and white and due to the intricacy of the design it is balanced by the simple colour palette.
